Grimalkin Authors

Stuart Hill won the inaugural Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in 2005. In the same year, he won the Highland and Mendip book awards and was long-listed for the Carnegie Medal. He has also had work included on the Ofsted list of books designed to encourage boys to read. Despite all of this he doesn’t drive a Bentley and changes his socks only when prompted. He has loved ghost stories ever since he was a very little and equally grubby boy.
Martyn divides his time unequally between writing novels and short stories, copy-writing for commercial clients, teaching archery and staring out of the window wondering why he didn’t take on an easier job, like dentistry for alligators. He has won prizes for his short stories and his novels are well received, if not heavily purchased. He has, at one time or another, been an archaeologist, a creative writing teacher, a dresser for a travelling fashion show, an observer for the met office, a soldier, a riding instructor and an international playboy. One of these may not be true.
